History

The first recorded use of a spiral for mechanical advantage was designed by Archimedes (287-212 BC) the Greek mathematician, physicist and inventor to remove water from the hold of a ship built for King Hiero of Syracuse .

最早记载使用的螺旋机械,是由希腊数学家,物理学家和发明家阿基米德(公元前287 - 212)设计的。他在为锡拉库扎国王Hiero建造的大船上,首次使用了螺旋输送的方式,用于除水以保持船体平衡。


 

It is said that Archimedes may have been the originator of two other forms of screw conveyors. One, a tube formed into a helix around a central shaft or core, is now not seen in use.

The other, a helix rotating within a stationary casing, is the forerunner of the modern screw conveyor in its most common form.

Tapered OD flights provide a continuous incremental change in swept volume of the screw.

This promotes even drawdown in a full hopper situation.

Tapered OD flights leave residual material in the conveyor unless the casing is tapered to suit.

变外径螺旋的输送体积随外径的变化而变化。

在料斗满载的情况下,这种螺旋可以使得物料输出平均。

但是如果输送机箱体直径不变的话会产生输送死角。

Ribbon flights with integral support legs are used for sticky or cohesive materials that tend to build up on the flight-pipe interface.

where material that passes through the notch is lifted and mixed with the trailing material.

Whilst screw flights have been produced for centuries the process has been little more than blacksmithing.

Until recently helical shaped dies have been used to form a flight in a press of some description.

Unless the operator had the exact die with the exact pitch allowance for the screw flight material spring back then a true helical form would be very difficult to produce, if at all.
